Steps in Grace Principle:
FORGIVENESS

Where we have been harmed or have hurt others, we grieve our losses, forgive and seek forgiveness, and make appropriate amends. This frees us from past circumstance so we can achieve peace and resolution.

RESOLUTION.

FREEDOM.

HEALING.

James 4:10 - Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

1 John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Luke 6:31 - Do to others as you would have them do to you.

Matthew 5:23-24 - Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.

Luke 17:4 - And if he sins against you seven times a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ forgive him.”

FORGIVENESS WISDOM

Lewis B. Smedes on FORGIVENESS

“To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you.”

"It takes one person to forgive, it takes two people to be reunited.”

“Forgiving does not erase the bitter past. A healed memory is not a deleted memory. Instead, forgiving what we cannot forget creates a new way to remember. We change the memory of our past into a hope for our future.”

“You will know that forgiveness has begun when you recall those who hurt you and feel the power to wish them well.”

“When we forgive evil we do not excuse it, we do not tolerate it, we do not smother it. We look the evil full in the face, call it what it is, let its horror shock and stun and enrage us, and only then do we forgive it.”
