PRAYERS
The Serenity Prayer
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time, accepting hardship as a pathway to peace; taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; trusting that You will make all things right if I surrender to your will; so that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with You forever in the next. Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed by thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done.
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory, forever.
Amen.
The Prayer Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.
The John Wesley Prayer
I am no longer my own, but thine.
Put me to what thou wilt, rank me with whom thou wilt.
Put me to doing, put me to suffering.
Let me be employed for thee or laid aside for thee,
exalted for thee or brought low for thee.
Let me be full, let me be empty.
Let me have all things, let me have nothing.
I freely and heartily yield all things to thy pleasure and disposal.
And now, O glorious and blessed God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
thou art mine, and I am thine.
So be it.
And the covenant which I have made on earth,
let it be ratified in heaven.
Amen.
Steps in Grace Prayer of Thanks
Dear Heavenly Father,
We worship You only, Lord God, as we renounce idols and lies in our lives as they become apparent to us. We embrace Your grace and mercy and continue to let go of legalism.
We understand that the more we become united with You through Your Word that we will experience more of the freedom that you have already so generously gifted us.
We thank you for increasing times of happiness, serenity, and peace of mind in our lives. We praise you for giving us the strength to focus on others more and to become increasingly more comfortable with who we are in Jesus Christ - secure, accepted and purposeful.
Thank you for our improved relationships, for showing us our self-focused behaviours and feelings so we can replace them with more empathy and in helping others.
Thank you for continually showing us how to responsibly care for ourselves, to change our outlook on life and how to handle stressful situations by practising our resiliency exercises.
Thank you for showing us how to respond to stress with hope, resilience and renewal, and live more stable and functional lives. We are also so very grateful that Your power is make perfect in our weakness.
We recognize the difference that You are making in our lives and because of your forgiveness, we can live each day without regret.
May all that we do and say honour you today.
In Jesus' name,
Amen
